My story:

In September 2022, at the age of 40 I was diagnosed with a rare form of genetic lung cancer, EGFR+, which had also spread to my bones.

It is an inoperable, incurable Stage 4 diagnosis. My terminal illness has given me, my children, Isla (11) and Zach (7), and my wife, Tracey, limited time together.

With the four words "You have incurable cancer" our lives changed forever and our future was taken away. Tracey and I agreed that we will not let this control the time we have left together as a family.

I will miss my children’s future.

But whilst I can’t be there to give them the support I had planned to with Tracey, I can show them how strong and powerful people can be when we want to make a difference together.

How can you help?

Channelling energy into making a difference.

I am asking for your support, this is our way of making a real difference to cancer treatments in Wales, creating a legacy and helping the next fighter, but it is as much about helping me and my family tackle the limited time we have together.

It is our way of teaching and showing Zach and Isla that they must never give up, always smile, love and live, no matter the circumstances, a message that I hope will stay with them and inspire them for many years after I have gone.

What is the outcome?

Through fundraising, I hope to raise significant funds for the QuicDNA (cancer genomics) project - an area that could dramatically impact the diagnosis of lung cancer in Wales.

This project aims to reduce the time it takes to diagnose lung cancer and improve access to better cancer treatments through the use of a new, innovative liquid biopsy technique using a simple blood test.

The QuicDNA project could see Wales become the first nation in the UK to routinely use liquid biopsy for all patients suspected of having incurable lung cancer.
